Supernatural: Jensen Ackles in Good God, Y'all
H50 - Alex on phone
I hope everyone enjoyed last night's episode. I haven't read any reviews or comments about the episode, so I'm not sure what everyone is thinking. Personally, I loved it. I loved that Dean figured out on his own what was going on, as did Sam. To me, it shows that both boys are strong and able to hunt on their own. I also loved that the boys split up at the end. I know, I know - I'm sure there are a lot of people out there complaining about it, but it had to happen. No way could things go back to normal with them being together and hunting together. I would have been seriously disappointed if they would have stayed together. It will be very interesting to see how long this separation lasts, how they each cope on their own, and what finally brings them back together again.

I didn't have time to rewatch the episode last night, so I can't think of my favorite funny Jensen/Dean moment off the top of my head. I'm sure my favorite serious Jensen/Dean moment is pretty predictable - it was the end scene, with the guys sitting at the picnic table, deciding that they should part ways for now.

So, tell me what you thought!! =D

I thought it was great!! So much goodness to choose from!!! I definitely have to rewatch, 'cuz I'm sure there are things I missed.

I loved when Dean found Sam in the "demons" lair & was untying him & they were both like "It's War!" Reminded me of when Sam rescued Dean from Gordon. *sigh*

Gah! I can't pick a favorite moment! It's all good! From Dean being all "Don't lose it" about giving his amulet to Castiel to offering Sam the Impala to go off on his own. He still loves his baby brother, but knows that some "alone time" is probably a good thing.

I agree that they have to go their Separate Ways, since right now, they're Worlds Apart (giggle), but we know that bad shit always happens when they're on their own!!!

Damn you Kripke!!!!

I always feel like I miss something, even after I rewatch. LOL!!

That was awesome when Dean found Sam. I thought for sure after that that they would be ok together, but I guess not.

I know - it was really hard to pick a favorite moment. Like you said, there were so many good ones.

LMAO at your Separate Ways comment!!!!!

That's a very good point about the boys working things out by themselves. I hadn't given that much thought but you're right. It showed they are both capable individuals while hunting.

I totally agree that they needed to go their separate ways. They couldn't keep on pretending everything was OK. They both need to get away from each other and figure out what's going on in their heads. Once they've done that they can concentrate on making things right with their brother.

The final scene was was nicely played by Jensen. I admit I was was waiting to see if there was a single perfect tear but there wasn't and I think that was good that they didn't force it. Dean (and Sam) both just know this is how it has to be for now.

My favourite scene was the one with Eliot and Hardison... ;)

I really liked that they figured things out for themselves.

Hopefully they won't have to be separated for long.

LOL!! I wasn't waiting for the single perfect drop from Jensen, but I wouldn't have been surprised if they had pulled it out. They tend to use that a lot, but I definitely think it wasn't needed here. The scene and words had enough of an impact without adding the tear.

Yes, excellent!! I think I know which scene you're talking about. ;)

yes yes, i liked all the Jensen moments, but i LOVED LOVEDLOVEDLOVEDLOVEDLOVEDLOVED demon!Dean. i'll go flail now...

Mmmmm....Demon!Dean is a variety I like as well... :D

My favorite Dean moment was him offering the Impala to Sam. *sniffle*

I also loved Ellen smacking Dean around for not calling her. Boy needs more of that in his life.

Dean showed his smarts last night, and I'm proud of him.

I still can't believe he offered the Impala. It seemed like a non-Dean thing to do or something...

The return of Ellen was awesome!! I didn't realize how much I missed her until she was back.

Exactly!! Usually it's Sammy figuring things out, but Dean did it last night. That was awesome.

Hey it's me ShutterBugs!

Wow--another awesome episode, huh?

I totally loved that last angsty scene with Dean and Sam. It was so beautifully filmed, written and acted. Dean looks like he's about to cry when he offers up the Impala (wonderfully performed by Jensen.) I know Kripke is killing me with the separation but I have confidence that he'll bring the brothers together again only after they realize how much they miss (and need) each other--afterall they are stronger together.

I still think my favorite funny scene (and Dean/Jensen has a lot) is the one with Dean and Cas when talking about the whereabouts of God. Dean says "He's in New Mexico--on a package of tortillas." Then Cas (looking like he's actually considering this LOL!) deadpans "No. He's not on flatbread." God, that was so funny. Also, Dean's "glamour" shots of his x-rays. LOL! And, saying "Speak of the devil" as Cas calls on the phone!!!

I did love how they both figured out the villain was "War" and when Dean was untying Sam that he fills in the missing piece to Dean about the ring. Teamwork guys--this is what it's all about!!

Seems to me that Season Five is shaping up to be the best yet. (OK. I might have said that the previous years too as they aired!!)

Re: Hey it's me ShutterBugs!

Yeah, I think Kripke enjoys torturing us with the separation of the guys.

The scene with the tortillas is awesome! Even though I liked seeing the x-rays, I'm still trying to figure that out. A dr wouldn't randomly do an x-ray, so I don't understand how Dean got it done. (of course, I'm probably over-thinking it) :P

I agree - S5 seems like it's going to be awesome!!

I too think the boys needed separation. Too much bad blood from the end of last season, and Dean's words to Sam at the end of the last episode would make it almost impossible for them not to. But they need it. Sam to find himself again, and Dean to step up to the "warrior" he is to become. It was a selfless act for both of them to put the world before their pride and feelings.

For me the most poingnant momment was when Castiel asked Dean for the amulet. Dean was very torn on giving it to him to search for God, who in Dean's mind is no better right now than Zachoriah. That was the clue to get us to the next step. His feelings for Sammy run strong, and always will. That amulet symbolizes their bond and the strength of their relationship. In his heart of hears, Dean knows Sam will be back and straight, and that they will grow to trust eachother again.

Dean had a few good lines, even tho I am having a hard time remembering...Castiel's flatbread comment still takes the prize on this ep! But I like it when he tells Sam he had his "glamour shot", and I might add, that is more inscription than I thought! OUCH!

Like Rap said also, when they both figured out that War was War, that was awesome to see how far they have both come. But the scene when Dean goes to the Bible and pulls out Revolations and starts reading from it, priceless! He knew more about the apocolypse than the priest!

OH! And when he asks the one guy where he served when they were showing the boys their gun skills, and he said Afganastan...Then he asked Dean, and he said hell. "No really, HELL!" Classic.

That last scene broke my heart, but I loved it from a story-telling and character perspective. It was a genuine result of what they've been through with each other. I think it would have felt like a cheat to me if they hadn't separated.

I LOVED that they gave us an explanation for Dean's amulet!

I was really struck last night by how much Dean has matured. Season 1 Dean he is not.

I totally agree. The boys had to be separated. I thank the writers for recognizing that.

You're right - Dean has matured a lot since S1. Sometimes I miss S1 Dean, but other times (like in this episode) I like the Dean that he has become.

What everyone said!

I did like that scene where he starts going after Sam but realizes he has a responsibility to help the people in the church. He's realizing that there's a bigger picture here.

I liked the scene with Ellen throwing holy water in his face. LOL...he looks good wet. ;-)

That was a good scene as well. That definitely shows how much he has matured and changed.

*hands Dean a towel*
